RAPIDES PARISH–A SWAT team has a local house surrounded Wednesday night at Bayou Rapides and Cooper.

Police tell us that a man shot at another but missed.

The suspect then ran into a house and is barricaded there.

SWAT has tried to contact the man but is receiving no response.

A call about a subject firing a shot at a family member led to the suspect barricading himself inside his house tonight, according to a Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office release.

At about 7 p.m., the office got a call about the shot fired at a house on Cooper Road, off La. Highway 28 West. No one was injured, according to the release.

After firing at the family member, the suspect “returned to his residence and has refused to make contact with deputies on the scene.”

The release said deputies know the suspect is inside the residence, so the area was secured. No other information has been released.
