Roommate of Elderly Man Killed in Standoff: ‘He Was Gonna Kill Somebody’

The roommate of a 107-year-old man who was killed in a confrontation with SWAT officers in Pine Bluff Saturday (Sept. 7) afternoon says the man’s anger led to the incident.

“He was very angry. He got hostile. He was gonna kill somebody,” said Pauline Lewis, who invited Monroe Isadore to live with her in August.

THV 11 in Little Rock interviewed Lewis Sunday.

“Monroe was in the room and he had the gun and he said ‘If you wanna live you better get away from this door,'” she said.

Lewis told THV 11 the incident began when she and Isadore’s daughter approached him about moving to a new apartment in Pine Bluff. She said that’s when he pulled out a pistol and threatened to shoot anyone who got close to his bedroom door.
