NATCHITOCHES — The Louisiana Supreme Court heard arguments at Northwestern State University on Thursday for the first time in 26 years.

NSU President Randall Webb said the sessions Thursday were the first to be held on campus since 1986.

The court sessions in Natchitoches coincide with several milestones — the state’s bicentennial this year, the court’s bicentennial in 2013, Natchitoches’ tricentennial in 2014, NSU’s 100th anniversary in 2014 and Chief Justice Catherine “Kitty” Kimball’s retirement in January.

Justice Jeffrey Victory said the event was a “historic occasion.” To commemorate the court’s bicentennial on March 1, 2013, the justices are “riding the circuit” in Natchitoches.
