Shot Pakistani teenager stands for first time

http://www.euronews.com/ The Pakistani teenager shot by the Taliban for campaigning for girls’ education has managed to stand for the first time since the attack.

Doctors at the Queen Elizabeth II hospital in Birmingham say Malala Yousafzai is improving, but concerns over her health remain.

Dr Dave Rosser, the hospital’s medical director, said Malala “is still showing some signs of infection.”

“It’s clear that she’s not out of the woods yet. Having said that she’s doing very well, in fact she was standing with some help for the first time this morning when I went in to see her,” he told reporters.

The 14-year-old was flown to Birmingham on
Monday.

Medics there say she will need part of her skull reconstructed.

The Taliban had threathened to target her again if she remained in Pakistan.
