Jeremy, Jarin Nagin ‘complied with everything’ asked of them, attorney says

Federal prosecutors have issued subpoenas to the sons of former New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin in an effort to compel them to testify and to present documents that could serve as evidence against their father, the WDSU I-Team has learned.
An attorney for Nagin’s sons confirmed on Monday that subpoenas were served on Jeremy Nagin, 28, and Jarin Nagin, 26, as part of the ongoing investigation into the two-term mayor. Clarence Roby said Jeremy and Jarin Nagin “complied with everything asked of (them) and it is our understanding they are not the targets.”
The nature of the documents that were turned over to authorities was not disclosed, and Roby would not discuss what took place when his clients were called to the witness stand last Friday.
The so-called “spousal privilege” rule prevents individuals from being compelled to testify against their spouse, but no such protection applies to a parent-child relationship.
Part of the probe involves the relationship between Ray Nagin and businessmen who had dealings with both the city and with a private business, Stone Age LLC, operated by Nagin’s family.
When Stone Age registered with the state in 2007, records show Jeremy Nagin served as the company’s president and Jarin Nagin and Ray Nagin worked as vice presidents. Stone Age has been defunct for several years.
