Rapides Parish: I-49 Reopens After Morning Collision

Crews Working Closed Portion of Northbound I-49

ALEXANDRIA, La. – An 18-wheeler accident still has the northbound lane of I-49 blocked Thursday afternoon.

Two 18-wheelers traveling northbound collided with each other leaving mangled wreckage this morning. One of the trucks spilled its load of packaged coffee grounds all over the interstate. One of the drivers was taken to Rapides Regional Medical Center with moderate injuries.

The driver of the other truck refused treatment.  The northbound lane is expected to be closed for several more hours for cleanup.

DETOURS: Exit 73-Woodworth exit.  Traffic is being routed onto La.3265 to U.S. 165.
