Neighbors Fed Up In Alexandria: Alexandria Last Year – 1 Homicide, So Far This Year – 7

ALEXANDRIA, La. — Alexandria has had seven homicides so far this year. Last year, they had one.

Several of those deaths have taken place in one neighborhood.

News Channel Five’s Brooke Buford went to 14th Street where two days ago, a man was shot and killed. She talked to neighbors about the homicides in their neighborhoods.

Reverend James Hardison has lived on the corner of Park Avenue and 14th Street in Alexandria for more than 30 years. And, he says there’s no place he’d rather call home.

“I love the people,” he said. “People are friendly.”

He says in those 30 years, he’s seen many changes in his neighborhood – including an increase in crime. On Sunday, two doors down from his house, a young man was shot to death.
