Detectives say Purvis was wanted in connection to the Wardville fire at 120 Wayne St. Monday and the body that was found in the home.

While no cause of death has been determined, detectives say they are continuing to investigate this as a homicide. The identity of the body has still not been determined, and an autopsy will be performed and dental records checked to determine the identity, according to reports.

Investigators say while several homes were searched to find Purvis, the public was never in any danger.

“We appreciate the community’s and the media’s patience in this matter. We will always notify the public and the media if there is a situation in which the public would be in general danger from a suspect. Protecting life is our main concern” said Sheriff William Earl Hilton in a statement. “We want to thank all the law enforcement agencies that assisted in this case as well as the public.”

Detectives say the investigation is still ongoing and more arrests may be made.
