The Resident: Supreme Court decimates 5th Amendment rights

The Supreme Court just handed down a 5-4 decision that essentially limits the scope of Americans’ Miranda rights and ultimately their Fifth Amendment right to not answer questions that could incriminate them. The ruling set the precedent that if a person is being informally questioned, and hasn’t been held or arrested in a criminal case, and that person refuses to answer the question and does not invoke their 5th Amendment right, their silence can, indeed, be used against them in a court of law.
