

TIOGA, La. – Two local men were arrested and charged with disturbing the peace and fighting after locking themselves out of a home and using an ax to get back in.
According to sheriff’s office reports, at 11:56 p.m. on Dec. 31, RPSO received a call about men forcing entry into a residence with an ax in the 8500 block of U.S. La. Hwy 71 North in Tioga.
After speaking to witnesses, deputies arrested Joseph McCartney, 25, and Travis Barlow, 25, both of 8518 La. Hwy 71 North in Tioga. Deputies say both men appeared to be intoxicated when they were found them fighting in the yard.

New Year’s Eve Disturbance in Tioga

During the investigation of this incident, another subject, later identified as 55-year-old Ronnie McCartney of Pollock arrived at the scene and was attempting to interfere in the investigation. McCartney was asked to leave the scene several times and he continually refused to do so. The deputies informed him several times that there was an investigation going on and for the safety of the scene, he would have to leave. The subject refused and he was informed that he was being placed under arrest for Interfering with a Law Enforcement Investigation.
