Slidell family angry after PETA protests cow raffle
A Slidell teenager’s idea to raise funds for an overseas trip has drawn the attention of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.
After 14-year-old Logan Ward and his family set up a Facebook page to raffle off the cow, a PETA representative wrote the eight-grader scathing emails that the family considers inappropriate.

Dogs at PETA’s shelter had the worst fate: 1045 out of 1110, or 94 percent, were euthanized in the facility. The organization’s kill rate is significantly higher than that of most other US kill shelters. In an interview with USA TODAY, PETA spokeswoman Jane Dollinger acknowledged that most shelters euthanize about 39 percent of their animals.
