BATON ROUGE- A mom and dad face charges of cruelty to juveniles, accused of abusing their children including forcing one to sleep on the floor of a locked closet.

Nicholas Menina, 24, and Zaikiya Duncan, 30, were arrested.

According to records, school officials sent one of their children to a hospital. The child was treated for burns to feet, genitalia, and buttocks. After being examined, medical staff said the burns were consistent with being submerged in hot water.

Investigators believe the child was locked in the closet to keep the victim from escaping and stealing food.
