Frenchman finds John Mack’s Dog Tag lost 70 years ago on a Normandy beach

BATON ROUGE, La. —

A St. Mary Parish soldier’s dog tag lost nearly 70 years ago on a beach at Normandy is being given to the National World War II Museum.

A French man with a metal detector found John Mack’s metal ID tag. He got in touch with the Council for the Development of French in Louisiana, which got in touch with the Louisiana lieutenant governor’s office.

The Advocate reports that the lieutenant governor’s chief of staff tracked down Mack’s family.
