FRANKFORT, KY. — Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes said Tuesday she wants to talk with family members and supporters before deciding whether to enter the race for the U.S. Senate next year.
“I am now going to take the time to reflect with my family, with my supporters, on how I can best continue to serve the commonwealth of Kentucky,” she told reporters after a bill-signing ceremony at the Capitol.
Grimes and fellow Democrat Gov. Steve Beshear were to meet later Tuesday to discuss issues including Grimes’ potential candidacy against incumbent Republican U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell.
“I want to gauge her interest in running. I think she would be a good candidate if she is interested, ” Beshear said.
