MIDLAND CITY, AL (WSFA) –
After seven days with few developments in the case of a child hostage standoff in the southeast Alabama town of Midland City, authorities say the crisis has come to an end.
Details are limited at this moment, but State Representative Steve Clouse confirms that the child, identified only as “Ethan” is “okay”. The kidnapper, Jimmy Lee Dykes is said to be dead, though it’s not immediately known how Dykes died.
Reporters on scene reported hearing a loud explosion in the 3 p.m. hour Monday. An ambulance was seen leaving the scene but without emergency lights or sirens activated. It traveled to nearby Flowers Hospital in Dothan, according to RickeyStokesNews.com.
