
“This year, there’s hundreds of them. In the last couple of days, they act real strange. Over the weekend we had the fog, (we) picked up some on the road with the power lines, and this we can’t stop, but now I find other dead ones,” Pfeifer said.
“The birds are stressed. They are cold, they’re wet and they’re hungry. The food resources are scattered,” said state wildlife biologist Jimmy Ernst.
Wildlife biologists are looking to the weather for a cause, saying low temperatures, high water and difficulty finding food are making it difficult for pelicans.
