TYLER, TX (KLTV) –
Police have found a 4-year-old boy and a man suspected of shooting and killing his ex-wife, according to Tyler Police spokesman Don Martin.
Police arrested James Calvert, 41, late Wednesday night in West Monroe, LA. Martin says the child, Lucas Calvert, is safe.
Tyler Police got a call around 11:30 p.m. from the West Monroe Police Department. Calvert was pulled over for a traffic stop in a 2000 Buick LeSabre with fake license plates. Martin said Calvert started a slow roll then started a short high-speed pursuit, which ended in a minor wreck.
West Monroe police say Calvert had guns in his lap and the backseat of the car, where Lucas was unharmed in a car seat.
There was no struggle according to police, but officers did have to break a window to get Calvert out of the vehicle. DPS, Texas Rangers, the FBI and U.S. Marshals were all involved in the search. The investigation is still ongoing at this time. It is unknown when Calvert will be extradited back to Texas.
