Livingston Parish deputies arrested a woman whose 2-year-old son choked himself into unconsciousness with a power window after she left him and his 14-month-old sister unattended in her car while she visited a friend July 3.
Candace Gordon, 20, 20950 La. 16 Lot No. 8, Denham Springs, was booked on one count of second-degree cruelty to juveniles and two counts of child desertion, Livingston Sheriff Jason Ard said in a news release Thursday.
Gordon stopped at an acquaintance’s home on Old River Road in Maurepas and left her children in her vehicle with the engine still running while she went inside.
The boy managed to free himself from his car seat and began manipulating the controls to the vehicle’s power windows. The boy then rolled one of the passenger windows up until it jammed into his neck, causing him to lose consciousness.
