When Absolute Travel luxury travel specialist, Brooke Garnett, was on a journey in Kenya and Tanzania last month, she expected to be wowed by the Big Five and wild encounters of tracking chimpanzees, but never imagined returning with one of the best selfie videos to hit the web—of a pelican no less!
At Greystoke Mahale, a luxury lodge in Tanzania, she was delighted to meet their resident Great White Pelican, “Big Bird,” an orphan who washed ashore at Lake Tanganyika. The staff took him into their care and taught him to spread his wings—literally! He is now part of the Greystoke Mahale tribe.
