Keana Barnes, the fugitive who escaped from a women’s prison in St. Gabriel on New Year’s Day, has been taken into custody after she was found in Los Angeles, officials said Tuesday.
The 33-year-old prison escapee was picked up by the Los Angeles Police Department after she was given a ticket for loitering. Officials said the police officer became suspicious after she gave him a fake name, and she was then taken into custody.
On the way to the station, Barnes confessed to her escape from the Louisiana prison and officers were able to confirm her identity through fingerprints. Barnes is currently in the custody of the LAPD.
