Exciting news today for the automaker, as both chambers of the state legislature voted to exempt drivers of the concept car from wearing helmets.
Lawmakers classified the three-wheeled vehicle as an autocycle not a motorcycle.
By law to drive one in the state of Louisiana you needed to wear a helmet — now it’s still seen as a motorcycle technically but the classification as an autocycle brings changes which reenforces that an Elio can be viewed as any other car on the road.
