Many people pray for miracles, and there are those who pray to a young Cajun girl who died in 1959 when she was only 12 years old.
Charlene Marie Richard was one of 10 children born to Mary and Joseph Richard. Her family was Catholic, and she was devoted to the Virgin Mary, praying daily at a small altar in her bedroom.
She enjoyed an ordinary childhood in a close family until she became ill. Her family brought her to Lafayette, where she was admitted to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, and diagnosed with leukemia.
