SORRENTO — Deputies arrested a Baton Rouge man in the Jan. 12 “execution-style slaying” of Gerald Wilkins on LV Road in Sorrento, while another suspect remains at large, Ascension Parish Sheriff Jeff Wiley reported Saturday.
Wilkins and two other men, Cecil Beals and Calvin Williams, drove from Baton Rouge to Sorrento, bought gasoline, then drove to LV Road, where Beals and Williams allegedly killed Williams, Wiley said in a news release.
Beals and Williams allegedly made several calls to a man who lives on Panama Road, near LV Road, around the time of the shooting, Wiley said.
The motive for the killing is unclear, but the men were “obviously involved in the illegal drug trade” and all “have extensive criminal records,” Wiley said.
