RUSTON, La. (KNOE 8 News) – A man and woman living in the same town for more than 20 years never realized the strange connection they had to one another.
That is until a fateful Facebook post brought them together.
When Ollie Samuel graduated from Choudrant High in 1973, the one thing she really wanted to celebrate her achievement was a class ring.
Money was tight but Ollie’s mom made it happen.
“She said she’d help me get one and for me to always cherish it,” said Ollie.
Cherish it she did but not for long.
It was stolen while she was grocery shopping.
“I bent over to pick something up and someone stole my purse. They took off with it and my ring was in it.”
Ollie thought the ring was gone forever.
“I must have cried for a year and a half after that. I really wanted it back,” she said.
Twenty years ago and 80 miles away, Bruce Siegmund was at a family reunion in Mansfield when he found a class ring by the pool.
