Shreveport, LA: Baby rescued from car crash involving a semi

The power goes out in a west Shreveport neighborhood after an 18-wheeler collides with a Toyota Corolla head-on on Buncombe Road Sunday evening.

Shreveport Police said the accident happened around 6:40 p.m. in the 6900 block of Buncombe Road.

After the collision, police said the semi swerved off the road and hit a utility pole and a tree, before it came to rest.

A 32-year old female and a one-month old baby were in the Corolla. They were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Bystanders said the truck driver was trapped inside the truck.

“They had to cut him out,” said Trey Wischau. “They had to get the door cut open. They got him out. But he was pinned from the knees down. He was awake talking to me.”
