“What we’re hearing is when they were trying to get the cab on Decatur Street, a car ran into two children, one of them being my daughter. She was thrown into oncoming traffic and another car ran over her. That individual stayed but the original car that caused the accident left,” says Theresa Piglia.
New Orleans, La. – Ryan Dowd and a group of friends were celebrating New Year’s Eve in the French Quarter when their night of partying came to a screeching halt.
“We were leaving and we were going to hail a cab when our friend was hit by a car,” says Dowd.
Dowd says he had walked across Decatur Street near the Jax Brewery when it happened. He didn’t see the accident but found his friend, 21-year-old Amanda Piglia, knocked out on the ground.
She was rushed to University Hospital. Amanda’s mother and father arrived there to find their daughter in a medically-induced coma.
