ADDIS- A West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Deputy claims a Brusly Police Officer illegally searched her house recently.
It happened last July as the Officer was conducting a residency check for the West Baton Rouge Parish School Board. Turns out, the Brusly Police Officer did not have a parish commission when he executed the search on the home on Elizabeth Lane in Addis.
“It’s insane,” Deputy Donna LeBlanc said. “How far are you willing to go to violate people’s rights?”
The search was part of a residency check for the West Baton Rouge Parish School System. The system has reported problems in the past with zone jumpers, people who list a certain address but actually live somewhere else and go to a school in the district with the listed address.
LeBlanc said when the Officer showed up at her house to search it, she was not at home. Her 16-year-old daughter allowed the Officer into her house after presenting her with a letter saying if she didn’t comply, she would be dropped from Brusly High School.
“As far as my two minor children being at home, he should have never entered my house,” LeBlanc said. “He should have never even spoke to them without me being present.”
