About 300 Louisiana Army National Guard troops, many of which are based on the north shore, are deploying to Kuwait and will receive send-off ceremonies on Thursday. Including pre-deployment training, the soldier-engineers will be gone for a year, the National Guard announced Tuesday.
The soldiers are assigned to the 205th Engineer Battalion, whose soldiers are based in Bogalusa and Hammond, and the 922nd Engineer Company in Gonzales. Each unit is sending about 150 soldiers.
