Tragic. The press report makes it almost sound like the Adam Walsh case in that the child was separated from her parent when the predator struck.

The difference between this and the Adam Walsh abduction is that Adam was taken while he wandered off for a second, and this girl’s mother willingly let her daughter walk off with a man she had just met. As a parent of two young boys, I would never trust a man I didn’t know with my children. This woman wasn’t the least bit suspicious of a middle-aged man who wants to take her daughter to McDonald’s. I’m sure the mother is agonizing over this decision in the wake of the murder, and rightfully so. I don’t want to disparage her, but a parent needs to protect their child. What possible reason could she have for letting a stranger walk off with her daughter? This wasn’t an accident, this should have never happened.

Such a sad story. There has to be a better way do deal with Pedophiles. I would like to know the statistics on how many Pedophiles are rehabilitated and go on to never commit another similar crime. As things stand it does not seem that Pedophiles can be rehabilitated. I certainly don’t have the answers. I wish I did.

Apparently now the mother is saying that she just lost track of her.
