Dalai Lama to visit New Orleans this week

He is scheduled to make public appearances Friday and Saturday

NEW ORLEANS —The Dalai Lama is visiting New Orleans less than a week after gunfire at a Mother’s Day parade injured 19 people.

An entourage of Tibetan monks Tuesday will create an elaborate sand mandala to commemorate the Dalai Lama’s visit.

The conference is entitled “Resilience: Strength Through Compassion and Connection” and it will be held May 16-18 at the Morial Convention Center.

Other speakers include world-renowned author Margaret Wheatley and famed professor of Psychology and Psychiatry Dr. Richard J. Davidson.
