The crash occurred at approximately 5pm on LA 30 (Nicholson Dr.) south of downtown Baton Rouge. Two State Police SUVs were northbound on LA 30 in the inside lane when a “box” rental truck made an illegal U-turn from the outside lane. The truck side swiped the first SUV which was carrying Governor Bobby Jindal and a Trooper. The second SUV operated by a Trooper took evasive action and struck a utility pole.

BATON ROUGE, La. — An SUV carrying Gov. Bobby Jindal was involved in a traffic accident in Baton Rouge Sunday, which sent a state trooper who was traveling with the governor’s detail to the hospital with minor injuries, Louisiana State Police said.

The governor did not appear to suffer any injuries.

Two vehicles assigned to the governor were involved in the crash, which happened about 5 p.m. and also involved a box rental truck, according to a Louisiana State Police news release.
