LAFAYETTE — A man, his wife and son were arrested Sunday at a local hotel after an altercation with hotel staff and responding officers, according to an affidavit provided by the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office.
On Sunday, officers with the Lafayette Police Department responded to a hotel in the 2100 block of NE Evangeline Thruway in regards to a verbal dispute between a family and hotel staff.
Terrell J. Scherer, 51, and Gage Ryan Scherer, 18, reportedly were shouting profane language at the officers and hotel staff, and refused numerous orders to stop. Terrell Scherer became “increasingly belligerent toward officers” investigating the incident, the affidavit states.
Officers told Gage Scherer if he did not stop shouting and walk away, he would be placed under arrest. Gage Scherer then reportedly said another profanity to the officers before running into the hotel room.
Officers went to the hotel room and attempted to handcuff Gage Scherer, who, according to the affidavit, refused to turn and place his hands behind his back.
