Police suspect Anthony Fields, 26, of robbing a business in the 3000 block of Bienville Street on Saturday.
According to a news release from the New Orleans Police Department, Fields walked into the store about 9:15 a.m., brandished a handgun, leaped across the counter and demanded cash from the store’s owner.
The business owner refused Fields’ demands, according to police, leading to a struggle. Authorities said Fields pistol-whipped the owner around the head repeatedly and fled with $500.
The business owner had seven staples to the head, six stitches to an eyebrow and glue to the nose after the attack, police said.
