New 3-Wheeled Vehicle Assembly To Start At Shreveport Plant

A startup company based in Arizona said today it plans to assemble new three-wheeled vehicles at the former General Motors plant in Shreveport.

Elio Motors of Phoeniz and developer Stuart Lichter, who has acquired other former GM sites, will buy the 530-acre site and lease portions of the site to other tenants. The selling [process] was not disclosed.

BATON ROUGE, La. – On Thursday, Gov. Bobby Jindal announced that Elio Motors plans to assemble new vehicles at the former General Motors Shreveport plant.

Elio Motors Inc. plans to create 1,500 new direct jobs by late 2015 paying an average annual salary of $47,700, plus benefits, as well as make a capital investment in excess of $100 million.
