Orleans Parish Sheriffs office seeking man who removed his ankle monitor

The Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies overseeing the electronic monitoring program received an alert early Sunday that Cedric Stokes, 27, removed his monitoring bracelet. The deputy assigned to the monitoring of Stokes notified the New Orleans Police Department and dispatched an OPSO unit to locate him, according to a statement released by the sheriff’s spokesman Marc Ehrhardt. The search for Stokes is ongoing.

Stokes, who is charged with simple robbery, was originally placed into the electronic monitoring program on Nov. 16 but was later remanded into OPSO custody for curfew violations and failure to charge his monitoring device. He was re-enrolled in the program Dec. 20.
