A woman arrested by New York authorities Dec. 3 in the 1984 slaying of Crowley businessman Gary Kergan arrived in Baton Rouge late Thursday night following her extradition to Louisiana, according to a Baton Rouge Police Department news release.
Leila Mulla, 47, of Astoria, N.Y., was transported to Baton Rouge after being arrested by New York police and the Queens, N.Y., District Attorney’s Office.
Mulla was booked in East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on Thursday with criminal conspiracy, simple robbery and second-degree murder. Baton Rouge Police Cpl. L’Jean McKneely said in a Friday news release that Mulla’s murder count will be changed to first-degree murder.
