No charges against Shreveport police in officer-involved shooting

CADDO PARISH, LA (KSLA) –

No charges will be filed against officers who were involved in a police-involved shooting that resulted in the death of a Shreveport man in October, the Caddo Parish District Attorney’s office announced Friday.

“The use of deadly force was reasonable. Criminal charges against the officers in this matter are not appropriate,” according to a final report into the case, which investigated the shooting deaths of two people during and after a chase involving Shreveport police.

The Shreveport Police Department released the names of the officers involved: Shreveport Police Corporals Daniel Denby and Michael Welch. Both officers have been on paid administrative since the shooting.
