Skeletal remains found near downtown Shreveport

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) –

Skeletal remains were found Tuesday morning underneath a bridge near downtown Shreveport.

Shreveport police confirm a DOTD crew inspecting bridges found the remains under the I-20 bridge over Spring Street just south of downtown Shreveport around 10:15 a.m.

Shreveport homicide investigators and the Caddo Parish Coroner were on the scene for about an hour looking over the remains.

Coroner, Dr. Todd Thoma said the scene will be held overnight and an investigation will begin around 11am Wednesday with the arrival of forensic pathologist, Dr. Mary Mannhein from LSU in Baton Rouge.

“It’s going to be important to categorize which injuries that we see if we see injuries on these bones, for me to just take the bones out and start photographing them and send them down there it’s… kind of important to weigh the bones there, that might determine what happened to this person,” said Dr. Thoma.
