MARKSVILLE, La. – A Marksville woman was shot and killed by a member of a U.S. Marshal Task Force when they tried to arrest her. Police are now saying she was armed.
News Channel 5’s Kathleen Witte went to Avoyelles to talk with those who knew her.
In this storage shed behind Marcel’s Upholstery shop in Marksville, Larane Pierce was in bed when a U.S. Marshal Violent Offender Task Force came looking for her Wednesday afternoon.
This is according to Marcel Theroux, owner of the shop, who didn’t want to speak on camera. He says, he’s the one who showed them where Pierce was staying.
Police say, this is what happened next:
State Trooper Scott Moreau: “U.S. Marshal Violent Offender task force was attempting to serve an arrest warrant, for armed robbery, on Larane Pierce from Marksville. And when they entered the residence, they encountered Pierce, and she was shot. She was fatally shot and killed. She was armed with a pistol.”
