SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) –
A woman walked out on Shreveport Mayor Cedric Glover as he spoke.
This is what he faced on his first day back at a Shreveport City Council meeting after more than two months in the hospital.
The mayor underwent surgery after he slipped and fell, tearing tendons in both legs at a Caddo Parish elementary school back in October.
Glover has had a presence at meetings through conference call but this is the first time he’s been able to attend since the accident.
“It’s wonderful to get a chance to see faces again,” Glover says.
Council member Rose Wilson-McCulloch said, “I was so excited about seeing him in person, to see that he’s looking healthy, and he’s still acting as mayor of the City of Shreveport. Nothing has really changed.”
But not everything went smoothly during Glover’s first day back at Government Plaza.
Several people who attended today’s meeting were upset because the city turned off their water today.
“What the hell are you pushing me for?” asked Lorraine Craig as Shreveport Police escorted her out of Monday’s city council work session after she got upset with Glover and the council. Craig says that all she wants is for them to turn her water back on.
