DERIDDER (AP) — Billie Joe Weldon, convicted of manslaughter in the 2009 beating death his alleged girlfriend, was sentenced to 31 years in prison on Monday.
The sentence handed down by Judge C. Kerry Anderson called for 38 years with the state Department of Corrections. However, a seven-year stretch was suspended.
Weldon, of Pitkin, was found guilty of manslaughter on Sept. 14 in the death of 27-year-old Kimberly Ann Stephens, of DeRidder.
