An England Drive homeowner found a back door window busted out and items taken from their home Thursday, one of several daytime burglaries being investigated by the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office.
In the Thursday incident, the Alexandria homeowner came home to the 3500 block of England Drive around 5:45 p.m. and found the window busted out, according to a release. The owner looked inside, and saw items on the floor. The homeowner then called the office to report the incident.
When deputies arrived, the homeowner was able to determine that items like electronics, jewelry and a firearm were missing, according to the release.
The release also states that this daytime burglary is one of several being investigated by detectives.
“We want to remind the public, daytime burglaries are some of our biggest challenges crime wise,” says Rapides Sheriff William Earl Hilton. “People are away from home, no one is around and criminals take advantage of that.”
