Alexandria, LA: Traffic stop results in narcotics arrest

A Colfax driver stopped for a routine traffic violation on Monroe Street in Alexandria Thursday is facing drug and other charges, according to a release.

Tyrone Brew, 32, was stopped in the 1700 block of Monroe Street for not wearing a seat belt. The release states the a handgun and possible prescription narcotics were found in the vehicle during the officer’s initial investigation.

Also found was about 5 pounds of suspected marijuana, suspected Promethazine syrup and other prescription narcotics with an estimated street value of more than $28,000, according to the release.
