New Orleans, LA: Boy removed ankle monitor less than a day after being placed in program, authorities say

Deputies search for teen who removed ankle monitor Wednesday

NEW ORLEANS —

Less than a day after being placed in the ankle monitoring program by the Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office, a 15-year-old boy removed it and is being sought by authorities.

The Sheriff’s Office said then teen was placed in the ankle monitoring program on Wednesday. At 1:30 a.m. Thursday, investigators said, the teen had removed it.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, deputies and the New Orleans Police Department were dispatched to locate the boy.

As of Thursday afternoon, the boy has not been found.
