NEW ORLEANS, LA: Cab driver arrested on kidnapping, rape charges

NEW ORLEANS — New Orleans police have arrested a cab driver wanted for a rape in the French Quarter, according to officials.

Pervez Iqbal, 60, was arrested and booked with second-degree kidnapping and forceable rape.

Police say the the victim identified the suspect through a line up.

Investigators say the victim entered a cab at 3 a.m. Saturday in the 600 block of Decatur Street. The driver reportedly brought the victim to an unknown location and sexually assaulted the person.

NOPD spokesman Officer Garry Flot said Iqbal is employed by American Cab Company.
