AVOYELLES PARISH, La. – More than a dozen elementary students were injured and three bus drivers on leave after a bus accident in Avoyelles Parish Tuesday.

News channel 5’s Kathleen Witte followed up in Avoyelles Parish today, to find out how the school board–and the parents–are addressing this accident.

A school bus accident in Avoyelles Parish sent 11 elementary school kids to the hospital Tuesday afternoon.

Louisiana State Police say three buses were taking children home from school when the crash took place.

According to LSP two of the drivers were cited for following too close.

The third driver was not charged.

The incident is still under investigation. The children were taken to the hospital, with what LSP said were minor injuries.
