WHOOPING CRANES – Louisiana Re-Introduction

Published on Sep 28, 2012 by

Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, White Lake Wetlands Conservation Area has partnered with the U.S. Geological Survey out of Maryland to reintroduce the Whooping Crane to Louisiana marshes. Not since 1950 has a whooping crane been seen in Louisiana. The project, which brings between 10-20 cranes annually to this area will last ten years, ending around the year 2020.

I was very forturnate to have been able to see these whooping cranes in the wild as they are in a protected area and the area is restricted to the public. I hope you enjoy the photography and video. Their call is amazing as is their presence.
