NewOrleans, LA: Former New Orleans magistrate dies from self-inflicted gunshot wound – Joseph Giarrusso Jr. died Wednesday

NEW ORLEANS —

Joseph Giarrusso Jr., a former New Orleans magistrate commissioner, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, the Orleans Parish coroner said.

The incident happened Wednesday in the 3500 block of Inwood Avenue sometime on Wednesday.

Giarrusso was a former assistant U.S. attorney, assistant district attorney and magistrate at Criminal District Court.

Police didn’t release any further information in the investigation.
