Lafayette police officer dies in weekend boating accident

LIVINGSTON, La. (AP) — A Lafayette Police Department officer was killed in a weekend boating accident at Lake Maurepas in Livingston Parish.

Lafayette Police said 29-year-old Cpl. Joel Grayson had been with the department for more than five years and had earned a Medal of Valor.

He was off duty at the time of the Saturday evening accident.
