St. Helena, LA: Troopers working to identify victim in fatal crash

ST. HELENA, LA — This morning [Saturday] at 2:45 a.m., Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop L began investigating a fatal crash on LA 37 approximately 1 mile north of LA 63. The single vehicle crash took the life of the currently unidentified white female driver.

Troopers’ investigation revealed that the crash occurred as a 2011 Buick LaCrosse was traveling south on LA 37 when, for unknown reasons, it traveled off the roadway to the left. As the Buick left the paved roadway, it struck several trees prior to coming to rest on the east side of the highway. The white female driver sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the St. Helena Parish Coroner’s Office. The driver was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and alcohol use is unknown pending the results of a toxicology exam.
